In 2012, Google made more than $50 billion, almost entirely via plain, boring little text ads. So it’s more than a tad ironic that Google is so incredibly good at old-fashioned video ads.

The advertising industry’s top kudos show, the Clio Awards, gave Google the advertiser of the year award for 2013 for creativity and excellence in advertising this week.
