Richard Swart

He’s out to grow entrepreneurship in Utah and the rest of the country. Richard Swart and Grow America are starting with business competitions, like MassChallenge, to encourage local startups first; eventually the model will spread across the country. It’s an ambitious plan to grow small business nation-wide.

His first big event attracted 800 applicants, and that’s no surprise given the level of prize money, $250k.

Alan E. Hall is the man with the money behind Grow America. His primary goal is, “to kickstart the American economy.”

How does he get the word out? Both Comcast and the local Salt Lake City NBC affiliate have teamed up to make sure the word gets around. That’s different.

And what role do the local angel groups play in this grand scheme?
