Last year, millions of humans – including those who work from a home office as teleworkers or home-based business owners – made resolutions. I – for one – don’t remember what I resolved to do. Write more? Make more? Dress more respectably in my office than torn shorts and a tank?

Is that any way to keep a promise?

What does forgetting what you promised that say about the promise you made?

Fourth quarter 2013 gave me much to resolve about. I’ve had clients nip and tuck budgets, or cut JDZ Inc. from their stable of vendors.

One particular client asked me to present a proposal offering how to provide more value to his operations. In the age of value-added  engagements, I read that as, “Tell me how you’re going to reduce the fee I pay you.”

Ugh.
