“The average Medium post gets a lift of 15 percent in readership; the result of features such as Read Next, our iOS app, emails, and our homepage,” writes Pete Davies, product development at Medium in a post.

To help do an even better job lifting up posts, the company is working on a new newsletter that will alert individuals to every new post from the writers and collections they follow.

Read Next and the Medium app and homepage are all part of Medium’s network, which propels posts to viral proportions and is fueled by likes and recommendations. However, the system isn’t perfect.
